Nigerian reggae legend, Majek Fashek, has been through a lot lately, with many believing he was losing his alleged drug battles. But in a positive twist of fate, the veteran musician seems to have found his feet again, owing largely to the goodwill of friends and well-wishers who love and still believe in him. But in the midst of all the drug and sickness drama that have seemed to engulf him over the past few years, the Send Down the Rain crooner, never seemed to have lost his reasoning faculty as he has from time to time given several but same accounts of how he was taken advantage of by a number of industry players baack in Nigeria, notably November Records boss and sometime manager, Charles Novia, as well as Timi Dakolo who he insists violated his copyright by remixing his Send Down The Rain track without acknowledging him or paying for it. Something Timi denied, saying he did pay, but as Majek Fasheknow reveals was to the wrong people.
In an interview with a frontline daily,Vanguard, Majek shared his disgust over how Ayiri turned a supposed helping hand into some publicity stunt for himself. According to Majek, “In that rehab (Abuja) I didn’t take their drugs and medications which they always administered. I used spiritualism to heal myself. Ayiri Emami was broadcasting his name that he was helping me. But the person doing the whole work, Captain Hosa Okunbo, was not broadcasting his name at all. He has spent millions of naira on me, while I was sojourning in London and he has not announced it to the world. That rehab you are talking about, if Ayiri didn’t broadcast it, nobody would have known about it. Ayiri sponsored the rehab but he didn’t keep his mouth shut”
How will the Nigeri Delta billionaire take this? In his strides or join issues with the legend?
