“In 2016, we started planning for our wedding, Pastor Jasper even started announcing in Church. We had planned for the wedding to be in December 2016 and every church member was looking forward to it.

Unfortunately we could not raise money for the wedding. I am employed to sell apples in a mkokoteni where I’m paid on commission. If I sell apples worth kshs 1000, I am paid kshs 100.

Having not raised the cash, we cancelled the wedding.

In as much as we couldn’t raise money, we still wanted to do it in a Godly way. We talked to our pastor about it and later visited our parents from both sides who okayed our move. They had no problem with us not paying dowry now, in fact they wanted it done later, something that made us happy.

On the material day, I had 200 shillings in my pocket. I went to church as usual but waited after praise and worship session when I dashed to a malimali shop where I bought my rings at KSh 100. The remainder is what we took for our first supper as a married couple.”

Grapes will be charged with voluntary manslaughter. If convicted, she will face the death penalty.

Big Brother Nigeria: FG orders NBC to investigate why show is in South Africa

The Federal government has directed the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria reality show in South Africa.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 24, 2016, the Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed ordered the NBC to determine whether Multi-Choice had breached Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way by having the show in South Africa.

The NBC is also to investigate the issue of “possible deceit” since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria

“As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” Mohammed said in a statement on Tuesday

BREAKFAST IDEA: YAMARITA FRIES

Yamarita fries is another way of eating yam differently, if you love fried yam, then this recipe would make you fall in love with it more. Yamarita keeps your yam soft and crispy and it tastes nicer with the  egg and flour mixture.
Ingredients

• Yam
• Flour
• Egg
• Cayenne pepper
• Salt
• Water
• Garlic powder
• Curry powder
• Black Pepper
• Thyme
• Powdered bouillon (optional)

Cooking Instructions

• Peel the yam and cut into rectangles about 1 inch wide and ½ inch thick and rinse and drain
• Put the yam slices inside a Pot, add water about the level of the Yam, also add a ½ Teaspoon of salt and let it cook for about 7 minutes
• Drain off the excess Water and transfer the Yam to a bowl of cold Water to stop the cooking process
• once the yam have cooled, drain off the water and set aside
• Crack the Eggs in a Bowl, add a pinch of Salt and Cayenne Pepper to your taste and whisk together also set that aside
• In a separate Bowl add the Flour, Garlic powder, Curry powder, Thyme, Black Pepper and Bouillon and mix together
• Now deep the yam (One at a time if possible ) in the Egg and Flour mixture respectively making sure the Yam is well coated
• Heat up the Oil and fry the Yam turning halfway between until golden brown.
• Serve with your favorite sauce or eat as is.

DIY(DO IT YOURSELF) CORNER: How to make sweet milky pop corn

Foodies! And those who wants to make a living out of making popcorn,follow these directions below and I can assure you that the outcome will blow your mind. 

INGREDIENTS
-2 Handful corn kernel (the yellow hard type)
-2 Table spoons vegetable oil or butter
-Sugar and powdered milk

COOKING DIRECTIONS
1. Place a pot/ pan on medium heat.

2. Add vegetable oil /butter and allow to heat up. 

3. Add in about 2 handfuls of the corn kernel and make sure they don’t overlap.

4. Cover the pot then reduce heat and allow it pop for a minute.

5. When the popping sound reduces, shake the pot a bit and allow it pop for some seconds until no sound is made.

6. Take off heat and pour into bowl.

7. Add powdered milk and toss.

A Nigerian actress, Foluke Daramola Salako in a chat with Tribune has said that infidelity will not make her leave her husband as she openly admonished critics to leave details of her marriage out of the public sphere and leave her marriage alone.

Salako further stated that her marriage is not a bondage but an understanding union between two mature individuals and she knows how to handle things in her home.

“This was not about someone sending a text to me about seeing my husband with another lady, it is about people insinuating that whatever he does on social media means that I am having problems with my marriage. And even if anything should go wrong at the end of the day, if someone tells me about it, what does the person want me to do? “I’ve always said that the only thing that can take me away from my home is critical and emotional abuse. Infidelity can never take me away from my home because I know how to handle it. I always tell him that he can never find anybody like me. I know my man, I know myself and I know what obtains in my home, so what’s the fuss about?”

She however continued, “My husband is a public commentator, he talks about politics, social issues, education, and even featured in my last film, the cobweb, nobody even talks about all these aspects of him, it’s just my marriage, it should have been over flogged by now. I don’t talk so much about my marriage, except when I post lovely photos because I’m grateful to God for my family, only for people to start saying when are these people going to break up or get separated.
